Welcome to Dancing Goats!
Mary, Michael and Nate Swindell are the proud owners of Dancing Goats, a small family herd of Boer goats located in Boyd, Texas.
We have AGBA 100% fullblood does, ABGA percentage does and a few commercial does. This allows us to have a variety of does and bucks available for sale each year to meet the needs of your breeding program and your budget.
Our does are bred to ABGA fullblood bucks.

Our Philosophy
We maintain a small herd so that we can have hands on time with each goat each day. Goats are selected for easy handling, good mothering and easy maintenance.
CL : or Caeseous Lymphadentis
We are very careful not to cultivate not to transmit this disease. All of our does/wethers have been blood tested negative. Our buck was vaccinated before we purchased him, and vaccinated animals will test positive for antibodies in their system. Any goat who has an abscess is quarentined and the absess cultured until we can confirm that the lesion was NOT CL. We work very hard to keep a clean herd.
Vaccinations: We vaccinate with CD&T yearly
Worming: On the advice of Dr Frank Craddock Texas A&M University, we do NOT worm our on an arbitrary basis. We test fecals on our goats regularly and those individuals who need worming are wormed and a follow-up fecal run 10 days later . We do not wish to contribute to the epidemic parasite resistance. Worm only the animals that need it. Seems like a sound philosophy to us. Most of our goats only need to be wormed 1-2 times a year.
Hooves are trimmed every 6-8 weeks. Our goats are trained to stand on a table while their hooves are trimmed. This makes it easy for us to have 1 person trim all the goats in a short period of time. It takes approximately 90 minutes to trim the entire herd.
Good Food and Access to Quality Minerals are the most inexpensive way to healthy, sound goats. Our goats come into the pen by the house at night for protection against coyotes, but spend the rest of the day grazing most of our 8 acres as the weather permits. Plenty of exercises, natural browse and natural stimulation help to keep our goats in great condition.
Breeding: While you can breed does to kid 3 times in 2 years, we believe this is very hard on the does. Our does are bred once a year, so that mothers have time to wean their kids and recover before their bodies are ready for breeding again. This has allowed us to produce large, healthy, fast growing kids whose mothers retain their weight, whose udders shape back nicely, and look terrific throught all stages of pregnancy, birth and nursing.
